Membership Policy
To be a member of the San Diego Chapter of the ACM, you must:
1) Be a member of the national ACM (see www.acm.org), though we will
not verify your membership,
3) Memberships cannot be shared – memberships are for individuals
only.
Membership entitles you to:
1) Receive an SDACM membership card.
2) Attend monthly meetings at no additional charge, and with expedited
sign-in.
3) Discounts at other SDACM functions (e.g., Professional Development
Seminars).
4) Access to any discounts secured by the SDACM for its membership.
5) Automatic receipt of SDACM announcements at your e-mail address.
6) Eligibility for door prizes at the monthly meetings.
The SDACM reserves the right to verify your identity whenever you claim
a membership benefit such as free entry to an SDACM meeting. You may
be asked to produce your membership card or some other form of identification.
Membership fees are non-refundable. The SDACM plans to have six to eight
regular meetings during a calendar year, at which it will charge an
entry fee of between $2 and $4 per person. An SDACM membership pays
off in entry fee savings alone for anyone attending more than half of
the monthly meetings.
However, if, for some reason, the SDACM is not able to stage all of
the meetings or benefits it hopes to, the membership fees are still
non-refundable.
The SDACM will not share your name, e-mail address, or personal information
with any organization for any reason.
Dues and Entry Fees:
The Board of Directors for the SDACM will set the entry fee for each
monthly meeting. Some meetings may cost more than others, depending
on the cost of staging the meeting and other factors.
For each monthly meeting, there will be a table at the entry door, and
each attendee will sign in and pay the entry fee. Sign-in for non-members
will consist of writing his/her name and e-mail address on the attendance
sheet. Sign-in for members will consist of finding and checking off
his/her name on the attendance sheet. Non-members will be required to
pay the entry fee at the door.
You can purchase an SDACM membership at any time, and its benefits start
from the time you buy it. Therefore, if you buy a membership at a monthly
meeting, the entry fee for that meeting will be covered as part of your
membership. At the time you purchase your membership, you will receive
a membership card. Starting at the next monthly meeting, you will be
pre-listed on the attendance sign-in sheet.
At the end of the meeting, all collected monies will be forwarded to
the Chapter Treasurer, and the names of all new members will be forwarded
to the Chapter Secretary. The Secretary will be responsible for tracking
memberships and generating the attendance sheet for the next meeting.
From time to time, the SDACM Board may invite guest or guest organizations
at a discounted entry fee or it may waive the entry fee completely.
Additionally, it may sell group or corporate memberships using a completely
different schedule of charges. No refund of membership fees to existing
members will be available in such cases, as membership fees are strictly
non-refundable.
Meeting Reservations Policy:
Reservations (aka "RSVP") Policy: As our meeting space is
of finite capacity, we encourage attendees to give us prior notice of
their intentions. This is necessary so that we can avoid having to turn
away people who have invested their valuable time traveling to the meeting
site. On occasion, we may reach capacity during the reservations process.
In that event, we will advise you of that situation when you contact
us, and we will be unable to accept your reservation.
If you arrive without a reservation, be aware that we may choose to
delay or deny your admission into the meeting until it becomes clear
that sufficient space will be available. Generally, we will make this
determination within 15 minutes after the networking part of the meeting
has begun (i.e., well before the presentation). Attendees without a
reservation will be admitted, if space is available, on a first-come,
first-served basis.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
