- Learn about the Java vs .NET issue -- from Sun's Vantage
Thursday, June 19
6:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.
Abstract
Open network technology standards underpin the incredible success of
the Internet, the Web, and online commerce.
This session examines how you can use open network standards including
Java, XML, and Internet protocols to implement cost effective, secure,
scalable applications and services.
We will compare the Java Platform and Java based products to Microsoft's
.NET, including both technical and business issues that implementers
need to consider when facing the Java technology versus .NET development
decision.
We will focus in particular on the following aspects of Java and .NET
technologies and products:
- Core Java and .NET technologies (VMs, languages, etc.)
- Server programming APIs (component model, persistence, Web services,
etc.)
- Performance, Scalability, and Quality issues
- Security in the Java Platform and .NET
- Wireless development and deployment
- Supported operating systems and implementations
